MeBattery at ILMAT 2023

On November 21-24, 2023, the 7th International Conference on Ionic Liquid-Based Materials (ILMAT) took place in Porto, Portugal.

ILMAT2023 was organized by the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto in partnership with the Portuguese Society of Chemistry (SPQ). The conference focuses on the properties and applications of ionic liquids. This includes a wide range of research fields such as chemistry, physics, biology and materials engineering.

This year, our colleagues from MeBattery partner Universidade de Aveiro took part in the conference with a presentation on “Using Aqueous Biphasic Systems as Membrane-Free Redox Flow Batteries”. The study's main goal was to present some findings that will allow an effective application of aqueous biphasic systems and electrolytes to produce membrane-free batteries. Both studies presented focused on using COSMO-RS as a predictive tool, to screen for liquid-liquid solvents and electrolyte modifications to reduce the cross-contamination problem of membrane-free batteries.
