MeBattery at the 76th ISE Annual Meeting

With the impressive number of 2.000 participants, nearly 1% of the city’s population, the 76th ISE Annual Meeting took place in Mainz, Germany on 7-12 September 2025. The guiding topic of this year’s meeting of the International Society of Electrochemistry was “Electrochemistry: From Basic Insights to Sustainable Technologies”. It offered a great opportunity to present multiple results generated in MeBattery by partners IMDEA Energy and Ruhr University Bochum.

The conference featured 16 symposia covering many aspects of electrochemistry. MeBattery contributed to the symposia “New Battery Chemistries” and “Hidden treasures - diversity of electrochemistry” with two oral presentations and one poster:

  • "Study of Mediation between Dissolved Redox Species and Solid Polymers” by Antonio Martinez (IMDEA Energy)
  • “Microelectrochemical Analysis of Multi-Metals Prussian Blue Analogues for Aqueous Sodium-Ion Batteries” by Nomnotho S Jiyane (Ruhr University Bochum)
  • “Addressing Relevant Challenges of Interfaces in Advanced Redox Flow Batteries by Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy” by Carla Santana Santos (Ruhr University Bochum)

In addition, Rebeca Marcilla from IMDEA Energy delivered a keynote presentation on “Membrane-Free Redox Flow Batteries: Bridging Innovation and Commercialization” at the symposium “Electrochemical Technologies for Energy and Industrial Electrosynthesis at Scale”, where she introduced the community to the disruptive membrane-free redox flow battery technology!
